Dear Friends, This week is a very special one for the TBI Family as we now have ownership of a NEW PERMANENT HOME!! (Click on the side-link for picture and location.) Yes, after four years residing in rented spaces, we can collectively enjoy the happiness of this moment. WE DID IT…and we did it TOGETHER!! I would like to recognize and wish a hearty Yasher Koach to the Building Committee: Phyllis Dolinsky, George Berman, Ron Rubinoff, Marvin Quittner, Stuart Epstein, and our president, Elaine Cohn – for their tireless efforts in connection with finding the property and negotiating its purchase. Working non-stop and with numerous frustrations along the way, the closing on our new home took place this past Monday, August 3rd, 2009! I believe that events in our lives happen not by accident but with a causality-linking to the right moment. A week ago, we were remembering one of the saddest days in our calendar – the 9th of Av, Tishah B’Av – the date on which the destruction of the temples in Jerusalem and other Jewish tragedies occurred. Yet our tradition is wise enough to teach us that following suffering, comes relief and comfort. Although you may not have realized it, this Wednesday, the 15th of Av or Tu Be’Av, is another special date in our Hebrew calendar. Our Mishnah (Ta’anit 4:8) states that the 15th of Av is one of the two most joyous dates in ancient (and modern) Israel’s calendar, as it is often referred to as the "day of love" -- the day on which many Jewish brides choose to get married and find true love. Likewise, with the purchase of our new building having taken place this week -- the week of Tu Be’Av -- we, also, hope and pray that each of us (and G’d willing, many more of our friends and neighbors) will experience the love of a new home and of our warm and caring congregation!
