United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism

Hazak

Designed primarily for the post-55 year old crowd, Hazak is a relatively new arm of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism (USCJ)-- and TBI has one of its most active chapters!  Meetings are held on a regular basis and generally feature a presentation by a member of the community, and a light breakfast is also served.

Several meetings ago, one of the attendees brought in and shared with the group -- the following thought-provoking poem:

'Tis the Soldier

It is the soldier, not the reporter who
has given us freedom of the press.

It is the soldier, not the  poet, who has
given us freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the campus
organizer, who has given us the
freedom to demonstrate.

It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has
given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the soldier, who  salutes the flag,
who serves under the flag, and whose
coffin is draped by the flag -- who
allows the protester to burn the flag.

At the January meeting, Sgt McCain of the Sunrise Police
Department, gave some thought-provoking advice for seniors

At the February meeting, talented songstress Rachel Paston performed.

At the March meeting, our very own Jessy Wald showed some of
her musical prowess and what people are missing by not
attending TBI's Friday evening services!

At the April meeting, Craig Feldman spoke on "Wills and Trusts for Grandcchildren.
